ABOUT THE ORCHARD -

The orchard is 8400 square metres (just over 2 acres) and has approximately 500 trees, most of which produce delicious 'Navel' oranges. The average annual crop varies around 16 tons (16,000kg) each year, and this is expected to increase considerably in the coming years as newly planted trees mature.

For a new owner not wanting to personally maintain the orchard, a local person can look after it in return for either an hourly rate (on an as-needed basis), or in return for the crop.

Other fruit trees within the orchard include lemons, plums, apricots, nectarines, apples, pears, kakis, nispiros, clementines, grapefruit and grapes. These are grown for personal use, rather than for sale. Also planted for the future are Avocado, Nashi and Chirimoya.

The property borders the Guadalhorce river and is accessed via asphalted lane and track, and while less than 10 minutes drive to the centre of Álora town, has that feel of peaceful countryside.

ABOUT THE AREA -

This Spanish property is situated about 3km from the quaint old town of Álora which has many interesting features, including the remains of a Moorish castle on one of the hills which the town straddles. The large selection of shops and businesses in town provide a wide selection of goods and services, and these include a large modern supermarket.

Álora has a regular local train service to Málaga, making connections with the standard and high-speed train services, to the rest of Spain and the resorts along the coast. Bus services and taxis are readily available.

There are many schools and colleges in town, a municipal swimming pool, a theatre / cinema, a modern indoor sports centre and many recreational facilities including tennis courts, running track and a new football stadium.
